In 2000 the Center for People With Disabilities (CPWD) consumers reclaimed the parking lot behind the Center and transformed it into a garden with raised beds, accessible to people with disabilities. Every week our Independent Living Program has a cooking class, which often utilizes fresh vegetables and herbs from our garden. Our consumers learn how to make easy, healthy, and nutritious meals. Our garden is also maintained by volunteers, enjoyed by staff, and used for agency events.
