Friday, October 26th: "Next Steps" Roundtable at 2 pm in the Center for Sustainability (in Johnson-MacFarlane Hall) ... a discussion with DU students, faculty, and staff for how to move forward to make the food on campus more sustainable, as well as a screening of Food MythBusters featuring Anna Lappe.
As for why we are celebrating Food Week on campus, I think that DU is fortunate to be located in a community where there is increasingly more focus on food sustainability and food justice issues, particularly around urban agriculture, and we want to celebrate and connect with these community-wide efforts. For Food Week, we will highlight how DU is engaging in the urban agriculture movement with tours of our permaculture garden and new hydroponics system. We also want to introduce our students, faculty, and staff to some of the challenges of sourcing sustainable food in Denver, such as when students are not on campus during the short growing season.
